Talking about AI:

By the way, if you use AI in your software/service/product, and this AI system *might* collect/process/reuse some personal data, you *have to* describe this in your privacy policy.

Yes, it is obligatory by law.

#Privacy #AI

@Em0nM4stodon what does such a clause look like? Which laws require it? (US? EU?) I promise I’m not being a Reply Guy. I would genuinely like some leads for further research.

@Em0nM4stodon And, if we’re talking about the GDRP, you need to be able to delete the information when consent is withdrawn, and you need to be able to correct any errors in PII in the system.

Neither of these are feasible with most LLM architectures. But don’t worry, the fines are capped at 4% annual turnover (or €20M, whichever is larger). I’m sure adding a bullshit generator to your product will increase revenue by more than enough to offset that liability.

@david_chisnall @Em0nM4stodon Nobody should really be feeding personal data into an LLM until Machine Unlearning becomes more than just a research field.

@Em0nM4stodon It's been driving me a little crazy that @ToSDR is not really tracking this yet. And before anyone says "Just add it yourself!" I have tried. Sorry TOSDR, I love you, but that system is impenetrable.

@mttaggart @Em0nM4stodon hey, wo do track that with this case https://edit.tosdr.org/cases/504

And for suggestions and so on the best place is always https://tosdr.community

Terms of Service; Didn't Read - Phoenix

I have read and understood the terms of service is the biggest lie on the Internet. We aim to fix that.

Terms of Service; Didn't Read - Phoenix
@ToSDR @Em0nM4stodon I'm aware of the case. As the small number of services listed there suggests, there is a disconnect between what's being tracked on ToSDR and current state of the web. My issues with Phoenix's accessibility do not seem to be a problem solvable by a forum with most recent activity 21 days ago. But to prove I'm operating in good faith, I have once again done battle with Phoenix and opened a comment for Facebook's LLM training.

@mttaggart Adding and updating is done by volunteers can take a while. Reading ToS is not really a fun thing either :/
The activity of the forum resembles the same thing, I respond to most posts on there within a week. There currently just isn't a lot of activity in general.
Could you elaborate on the issues with phoenix you have?

@mttaggart Thank you for creating the point! However its significantly easier for us to maintain if its proposed as a quote from a doc, I added the doc now here https://edit.tosdr.org/services/182/annotate#doc_22996
If you add the again quote I can approve it.
thank you in advance!
