It's great to see that Stage Manager is still doing absolutely fine two years later. Warms my heart.
@viticci It's almost like nobody at Apple uses Stage Manager…
@viticci What is that atrocity and who we need to sacrifice?
@viticci Man! You seem to find the most tragic fails of apps and systems!! I have used Stage Manager on my Mac and iPad since it came out, and I never experience the weird stuff you seem to. I somewhat consider myself a “power user,” but I clearly don’t push the limits like you!
@viticci I keep getting weird issues on Mac where stage manager won’t let me move windows between screens.

@viticci

It’s so frustrating that it’s *almost* good. I actually don’t mind it as a concept, and use my iPad with a monitor all the time.

But having to learn what’s broken so you can work around that is so maddening from the richest company on the planet.

@viticci “what’s a computer” indeed.
@viticci ironically it actually works pretty great on macOS, where it is far less needed.
@viticci You inspired me to go all iPad as my main computer starting in 2018 when the Face ID iPad Pro came out and I first started listening to Connected. I used it as my primary computer throughout the rest of college (for non programming classes because iPadOS STILL can’t do that) and as my main computer since. I have finally given up. (1/3)
The 2018 iPad Pro is being left behind, and there’s nothing about the newer generations that makes me think they will be any more capable, especially for the price. I decided to get a Framework laptop for my next computer. I miss macOS, and iPadOS, but I’m finally having fun with my technology again. I’ve given up wishing Apple cared about the iPad, or the thousand dollars+ I paid for it. I don’t even like Apple as a company anymore. (2/3)
They are actively hostile towards their users, the developers that make their devices so great to use, and the creators their claim to be champions for. No, the Framework 16 isn’t perfect. The hardware doesn’t feel polished, Linux is tough to work with sometimes, and it doesn’t work seamlessly with my phone, but it’s fun. I feel good about supporting the company making the hardware that I buy, and I’m back to being excited about technology again. (3/3)

@viticci I don't miss my iPad Pro at all. So many hours I spent fighting to make things doable on iPadOS that are so fast and have so many ways to do on the Mac.

Never again for me.

@viticci Like with the Settings app adjusting perfectly by simply scaling?
@viticci a two years old running gag now…
@viticci I noticed a lot of instabilities with the last beta, particularly when I’m using an external monitor. Hopefully it’ll be fixed soon. It will be fixed soon? Right? 😬
@viticci It’s like they build it and forgot about it.
They were so close but don’t care (enough) to fine tune it, frustrating.
@viticci Every other month or so I enable Stage Manager on my iPad only to be reminded that it still doesn’t work for me. Maybe Apple should just trash it and go back to the drawing board.

@viticci if the Apple team responsible for iPad OS we’re forced to use it, and only it, for 12 months I wonder what it would look like by the end of the year.

If Jobs was around I’d email him.
