I often think I should collect a Power Mac B&W, MDD and non leaky G5. I would then max out the RAM and storage on them, install the latest OS X and never touch them again…
@paul I have that combo. G3 and MDD mostly hold up, but the G5 does not live up to the memories. Loud. heavy and finicky. I only have one so I can do OpenGL 2.
@colincornaby my memory of the G3 is that I'd end up bleeding every single time I opened it up. Not sure I'd want it to live up to that.
@paul @colincornaby all the way up to the cheese grater as I remember.
@colincornaby @paul I agree with the G5. I had a 1.6 G5 and it was loud. The case itself was a beautiful.
@paul My G5 PPC Mac Pro sounds like a jet taking off after about 10 minutes or so.
@paul Funny, I just dusted off my PMG4 Cube yesterday as a friend saw it on my display shelf and asked what it was. I wonder if MacOS X Server is still functioning on it if I boot it up…….
@paul that sounds like a great hobby. Do it! Those were all great machines. Nostalgia FTW
@paul I have a B&W G3, probably with a dead PSU. I don’t have the time or money to get it up and running again, and there seem to be no buyers in Germany either.
Sadly the last time I’ve moved the shell got some cracks, too
