I'd have a bit more sympathy if they had said "Yes, we fucked up badly, and we apologise, especially to the voters and the candidates. Could you please perhaps see your way clear to allowing us, in this instance, some more time to fix our mistake?"
Instead they have DEMANDED more time. As if it is their right to screw up without penalty.

Translation: The dog ate my homework, and the only way to stop the teacher demolishing the school is to give me an extension for the assignment.
This tantrum by the NSW Liberal Party shows such poor form.
I think the AEC will be just fine running the election without a bunch of candidates who couldn't hand-in their homework on time.
