New pattern, new fabric. I haven't done a #sewing project in a while. Maybe something for Saturday
This is a pretty easy pattern over all, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired
The bodice did not fit right at all, so I had to take the dress apart. The good news is it looks like I can adjust the bodice to be pretty cute without a lot of trouble
Often with these patterns I wonder what the designer was thinking. The resulting garment will be so far off from anything that makes sense with a human body
Test fitting a waist band. I think that the darts under my tiddys need to be a little more aggressive still
Waist band is on. I've made two big changes to this pattern now

I finished my dress!

I had to change the bodice, the waist band, and the straps, but now it fits well and looks cute

I would like to make another with this modified pattern, but out of something with a bit of stretch to it

#sewing

The astute among you might notice that this dress is very similar to my favorite green dress. That was deliberate.

@MLE_online

Super cute! I could definitely see how a bit of stretch would make it more comfortable and freeing.

@theantlady I tried to make this cotton as stretchy as possible, so the waist band is cut on the bias and I used stretch stitches for anything going around my waist or chest. It's not bad at all, but having actual stretch fabric would be nice
@MLE_online that looks amazing!
@vxo I'm pretty proud of it! Usually when I have to modify a pattern that much, the results end up so-so, but this one came out really nice
@MLE_online I think it looks fantastic but my emphasis may not be on the same thing yours is. Keep going.
@MLE_online in the era of fast fashion I love people who make their own.
@MLE_online tis ballin, I wonder if the bottom strap would look good with addressable RGB lighting or LED filament line?
@MLE_online I really need to get back I to sewing, I have such a big box of dress patterns and stuff from a tag sale and just found that they are my size...
@pepper oh yea, you gotta try some of those patterns!
@MLE_online i like the patterns in these fabrics! :D
@MLE_online I’m getting some William Ware Theiss / Star Trek TOS vibes there.
@kirkman i dont know what any of that means!
@kirkman oh TOS is "the original series" and this guy was a designer of costumes for it?
@MLE_online Exactly. He had a very distinctive look on Star Trek, especially for female guest stars’ costumes. I’m trying to find a good photo gallery to share but I’m also cooking dinner.
