Like any mythology, comic-book superheroes reflect the cultural hopes, fears, values, beliefs, and ideologies of a society. In the current American society, the very rich are more likely to be a Lex Luther threat (Musk & Trump), rather than benevolent patrons of truth, justice, and freedom. Bruce Wayne’s life as the traumatized poor rich boy becomes even less applicable, when school children can face death in their classrooms, and the middle class dream has turned into a nightmare of insecure work and uncertain housing. The isolated refugee from a far away land/planet (illegal alien indeed) struggles to find their place in a less than friendly America. Powerful women are a threat to the American status quo, and the patriarchy does not care for the Sisterhood – insecure men trying to twist laws and turn motherhood into a prison.
