Good morning. 🍄🍄🍄

4 August 2024

Do you remember when soda bottles were all glass. Plastic bottles were not a thing back then. Oh, I know that you can still get some soda brands in glass bottles, but it is more of a novelty now-a-days. Hmmm ... I haven't seen Royal Crown Cola in a while, perhaps I'm just not looking. I don't drink sodas anymore, doctors' orders, not even the diet types. But way back when, RC Cola was a prominent selection. I can recall sitting on the steps of small country store in the summer with and RC Cola and a bag of peanuts. My friends would pour their bag into the bottle, which was an act I didn't understand. The visual is a carefree summer day.

@Swede1952 I always thought RC Cola was the proper pairing for a Moon Pie!

@StumpyTheMutt

I've read that and I think that it is a southern thing. I'm originally from California. I think there were moon pies on the shelves but I'm not certain.

@Swede1952 RC Cola (Royal Crown, but I think that like many companies it just uses the initials now) still exists, though it's difficult to find.

I'm a Mets fan, and along with the other traumas of that loyalty I remember the RC commercial with Tom Seaver singing their jingle.

@Swede1952 I remember glass bottles. Perchance you were born 1952?

@Dianora

Maybe.

@Swede1952 We used to wrap sandwiches in old wax paper salvaged from bread. There was no aluminium foil or plastic wrap. All wax paper. I bet you remember that too eh?

@Dianora

I do, though it's something that I haven't thought about in a long time. Wax paper was a thing. I wonder if it still is.

@Swede1952 I've switched back to wax paper from plastic wrap due to too much plastic in the oceans etc. I also used to use it in pastry baking but found that parchment paper works even better. No more sticking of pastry on the table! 😀

@Dianora

It's not outside the realm of possibility. 😆

@Swede1952 uh huh... I bet you still know how to use a rotary phone too and they still had cords.

@Dianora

Yep, though I no longer own one, rotary phone that is. I still have a corded phone, but I recently disconnected our landline.

@Swede1952 Yes a lot of people have done that. Bhell monopoly really made long distance expensive. We are on a VoIP plan and it's reasonable. POTS is way expensive now.
