Do y'all remember, before the Internet, when people thought the cause of stupidity was lack of access to information?
Yeah. It wasn't that.
@MostlyHarmless
just to lazy, to prove them selve wrong
@MostlyHarmless Most people don't really know how to search for info, so they just believe whatever bullshit they see on Facebook or X formerly known as Twatter.
@MostlyHarmless essentially everyone still believes this
You say that but signal to noise ratio has never been lower.

@MostlyHarmless It is interesting how far we have come and how far we have fell off.

I remember being on a lot of various boards growing up, and I remember learning about my own bias and confirmation bias issues as I kept using various websites.

I'm thankful for those moments because it helped me question things better. But it is interesting to watch an entire population just accept anything now days.

@MostlyHarmless Not everyone has access to the internet nor is it encouraged the same way everywhere...
@MostlyHarmless Lack of critical thinking, imho.
@MostlyHarmless That happened in every media revolution, but yes, I do remember.
@MostlyHarmless it sure wasn’t. Maybe the refusal to read said knowledge.

@MostlyHarmless back when we pictured the knowledge of the internet as a bigger Encarta CD..

To bad we filled the internet with garbage.

@MostlyHarmless @KingShawn I definitely believed this as a kid growing up in the first Dot Com Boom. I was wrong.
@MostlyHarmless yeah, fore the net, I spent a lot of time in the library. None of my classmates to be seen.
@MostlyHarmless @bsdphk As someone once remarked: β€œI used to want to be able to read peoples minds, then I got a Facebook account and now I am over it.”
@MostlyHarmless stupid and ignorant are different things.
