This country has ceded the moral high ground to religious conservatives for far too long. They never had it and their adoration for Donald fucking Trump of all people proves it. It's time to point out the obvious: they're the ones whose minds are in the gutter, constantly worrying about women having the right to have sex without procreation, what consenting adults do in their own bedrooms and who’s got what genitals.

@Moltz Their entire line about the “innocence” and “purity” of the youth is all about control, and not just physically, but socially, culturally, *philosophically*. If it were widely accepted that young people (but especially children) are vulnerable, impressionable, and mentally incompetent, then they would be much easier to dehumanise, deprive of human rights, and subject to abuse.

And, so it has.

@Moltz One of the most fundamental and absurd contradictions of this mindset is the sheer amount of time and effort that is spent trying to make chіldren everything we already believe to be natural, inborn, and unchangeable. It’s *almost* as if the core assumptions that form the basis of reactionaries’ worldviews are simply…incorrect.

@Moltz Now for the real spicy bit. Since the view of “innocence” and “purity” is at odds with the existence of chіld sexuality, which must grow and form despite the former’s implication of its absence, our society and culture has become conspicuously preoccupied with preserving the innocence and purity of children. Because it’s so unthinkable, even the smallest things, like sex education or a gay character in movie, are automatically catastrophised as threats to the stability of society.
