I suddenly find I am taking a day off writing to vegetate and read random escapism and generally chill, and keep asking myself, "why?"

This isn't healthy.

@cstross
Why? Well, once upon a time there was a fluctuation in the ground-state of Everything….

@cstross
I'm not judging you, I'm just wanting to understand-
1) It's not healthy to take random breaks on a whim? Stepping away from plans you made for yourself?
2) The things you are wanting to do are not things that will help you, or calm you, or improve you?
3) It's not healthy to ask 'why' when you decide to do this?

I'm just trying to figure out the ambiguity here, I apologize if I'm coming off at all critical (I am not!).

@cstross one could argue it's self care though.
@cstross a pretty well known economist/philosopher here is calling it apocalypse tithe, give ten percent of your money/time/work to Bohemian lifestyle/chill, the world could end tomorrow.

@cstross Or it's taking some time off, which is healthy.

I hope you find more energy again after recharging for a bit.

@cstross What do you read for escapism? That's all I've been able to do lately, and I'm getting tired of mediocre thrillers.
@cstross didn't you recently have covid? If so, your brain is telling you that you're not fully healthy and you need to rest.
@aegtx No, I last had COVID in October '22. (I had a booster shot at the beginning of this month.)
@cstross ah, got it. I'd still say listen to your brain
