@jfslicer @badbede I’ve spent about $50k on vehicles over the last 20 years. That’s 8 vehicles, 5 of which I still have.
Since 2016 I’ve averaged $300 a month in maintenance. That’s for 4 cars at a time on average.
So $2500 a year for purchases, and $3600 a year for maintenance. Call it $6K a year to supply up to 4 drivers. $1500 a year per driver.
To the original question, if “without issue” means “no repairs”, I’d spend $100K on such a car (if I had $100K to spend)
@jeffschmitz @badbede Thanks! I'm kinda guessing, but I think the Rivian fits that mold. With a 12 year, 175,000 mile warranty and you only need to rotate the tires every 7500 miles... no oil change or anything like that, it really could go 20 years.
I say, trying to justify my desire to get one... but I also don't have that kind of money.
@JoeCool @jeffschmitz @badbede Not sure, but found this, not sure if Rivian were part of the sturdy, likely not since the first one hit 100k this year:
“The data showed that most EVs driven close to 100,000 miles still have at least 90 percent of their original range left.” https://www.yahoo.com/tech/researchers-surprising-discovery-lifespan-ev-110000330.html
Here’s a forum discussing it: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/study-on-ev-battery-lifespan-yields-shocking-positive-results.19275/
