The year is 2024.

I am still writing <br/> tags sometimes.

@marcoarment I always shut my blinds first, just to make sure that nobody sees me do it.
@marcoarment I feel seen…because I never stopped using <br /> tags.
@marcoarment It stands for “being real”, right?
@marcoarment Only a god-class AI can fix english language paragraph spacing.
@marcoarment It’s a perfectly cromulent tag
@marcoarment Me, too. But I put a space before the slash to make sure the parser understands.

@marcoarment

Sometimes you need an old-fashioned break.

@marcoarment with self-closing tags that don't have an explicit syntax (`<br>`), the grammar itself is coupled with the entire list of tag definitions. This to me seems like an odd choice. I continue to type `<br />` out of spite.
@[email protected] Well i can help you with that. You don't need the slash.
@marcoarment every day, keep up the fight, there’s not many of us left!
@marcoarment
I do it in my markdown note taking app all the time. Kinda defeats the purpose, but it beats the alternatives.
@marcoarment unclosed brs are an assault to the senses
@marcoarment just don’t hold it that way … 😉
@marcoarment I’m still have a system-wide autocorrect for replacing <br> with <br/> 🤷‍♂️
