@GottaLaff @danimo the only way I could see it being accurate is in a "global definitions of left wing and right wing" being mapped to the American specific political terms of "liberal" and "conservative."
Globally speaking the Democratic Party is dominated by relatively pro market, anti state ownership forces. Mainstream Republicans and Democrats agree in kind on these points and fight about the degree. Republicans want the "government small enough to drown in a bathtub" and Democrats want it a bit bigger than that. So they're both "right wing" in a global political sense. "Far right" Republicans and "Center Right" Democrats. Like, even Bernie and AOC aren't agitating for nationalization of the utilities including telephony and Internet.
Of course that's ignoring the Trump factor in all this which has thrown most of that out the window and replaced it with "whatever Orange Julius wants today" defining Republican politics currently.
in my framing, these things can be derived from Mrs Harris's handling of the death penalty and her opposition to prison time reductions and bragging about convictions of marijuana users. even though this is probably slightly distorted cherrypicking from abroad, it's enough for me to have personal concerns.
But of course anything is better than a blatant fascist, like Trump.

@danimo none of us should act like we just fell out of a coconut tree. #Harris exists in a context of all that has come before. She's a politician who has had to run for election to specific offices in specific regions with specific constituencies who care about specific issues.
Electoral politics is the art of finding the best mix of your personal views and the views of your constituents. This are never going to mesh 100%. A good politician is ready to follow the will of their people but also attempt to persuade those people to another course.
In the 80s and 90s the big scary thing the media were forcing down our throats were violent crime and drug crime, so Harris focused on those things.
Hell, #Obama was against #gaymarriage until he was for it. I fully expect the Vice President to have updated her stances on a host of issues as compared to the late 20th century.

No one has been excited about a #Democratic #Presidential #nominee since Mrs Clinton and possibly the majority of potential voters not since #Obama. I know Clinton didn't excite me mostly because she felt forced on us.
#Harris is exciting! She's not from a dynasty. She worked hard her whole career. She's connected to the people in a way that so many of our previous choices haven't been.
I had to #vote for Clinton in 2016. I had to vote for Biden in 2020. I WANT to #voteHarris in #November.
