@caseyliss 🔥🔥🔥
But also I wonder if there isn't a good reason wh y they don't do it. Maybe linked to several people using different devices logged in the same account.
When my daughter uses a phone logged in my account while I’m using my iPad, whoever presses play last choose what I hear in my AirPods…

@fabienmarry @caseyliss Spotify can do hand-off, and that's one of the key missing features for Apple Music, imho.

The problem here isn’t innovation, though:
1. it wouldn’t be innovation if Apple copied it, because Spotify already did it
2. Apple *can’t* do it because Spotify patented it 🤨

To be clear: I would *love* the feature to be on Apple Music, but I don't miss it enough to go back to Spotify

@fabienmarry @caseyliss I think their actual reason is Apple thinks of these things as device-first, not service-first
@caseyliss but it’s been able to do that for awhile though, right? So that’s not innovation anymore 🙃
@caseyliss @9to5Mac Sometimes it feels like the windows with a view at Apple Park all face inward.

@caseyliss As someone who happily uses Apple Music daily: I can’t think of a single feature this app/service has, that Spotify didn’t have before them.

The automated playlists, the year in review, what exactly is “innovative”?

Such a hot take from Apple.

@caseyliss @9to5Mac Spotify works as you’d expect with APPLE airplay and APPLE homepods unlike APPLE music
@caseyliss Who cares about features or “innovation” when it takes 15 seconds to add an album to my library?
@caseyliss Also Spotify Connect >>>>> AirPlay
@caseyliss Corporations’ approach to AI shows that their definition of “innovation” is “shipping features that don’t work”, so that’s kinda fits
@caseyliss @9to5Mac are underpaying artists and reviving payola features? Maybe Spotify can claim those as innovations.
@krisbrowne42 @caseyliss @9to5Mac Spotify pays out 74% of their entire revenue to right holders and is barely profitable
@caseyliss Spotify can play music. The same can’t always be said for Apple Music.
@caseyliss spotify connect is legit a great feature. i hate them as a company but this keeps us in the ecosystem for now.
@caseyliss @robb @9to5Mac but can I play different musics on 2 devices connected to the same account? Last time I tried, a few years ago, I think it was not possible.
@caseyliss Yeah, I get that they focus on lossless and spatial, but UI/UX wise Spotify definitely innovates more (not everyone prefers it, of course).
@caseyliss @9to5Mac Not innovating, yet still better 🤔
@caseyliss It genuinely blew my mind when Apple Music launched and didn’t have this feature on day 1. There aren’t words for the degree of absurdity that is *still* not having the feature in 2024.
@caseyliss that’s Apple tech, not Spotify.
@Strwpok no, it’s Spotify Connect.
@caseyliss It’s not using apples handoff technology?
