Define "everyone".
Modern social media has become hostile to just plain normal people wanting to hang out and find a laugh or two. Everything is somehow parasocial, now, which is not acceptable. I believe people are quietly leaving. Everyone is trying to "reduce screen time" which just means quitting socials.
Oh, and it's summer, which for normal people means putting down the screen and going outside.
What's left are people who don't know the party's over, and more important, people who somehow have a business model built around inflaming the passions of others. Making people upset creates consistent clicks, so the influencers (defined as all professionals or aspiring pros), who have become the majority of users, suddenly, are all trying to run the same scam.
It's trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls more than it has ever been in living memory.
If that's where you're getting your idea of "everyone", that is an extremely biased sample.
It's sort of an existential - or maybe relativistic - phenomenon - are we all getting dumber and angrier, or could it be the longer we go on with this bullshit, the dumber and angrier we /seem/ to each other?
Or maybe both [spooky noise goes here] ?
