Indie game development is like a veiled samurai credo, we tell ourselves that we have a goal, but there is only a way. I think it's masochism, try to motivate yourself, spend your time on things that no one notices, and you try not to bother with your nagging very often about it
Musicians, poets, artists - their creativity depends on the environment and pressure of life. The stronger the pressure, the greater their creativity. Does it work with gamedev? I'm not sure. Rejoice if you live in a peaceful environment
@maxim I would not generalise it like that 🤔
If there is too much pressure there can be no creativity because you will go for the safe options but no innovation or taking risks, I'd say
@maxim I think this is the root of the cliche of game devs always starting new projects, never finishing old ones. It’s not necessarily a failure to complete. It’s just the nomadic mind, moving on, but still adhering to “the way”.
@maxim with regard to artists in the broader sense, I always think of the art as artifacts. And the process of creation the real “art” itself (the way, as you call it). The artifacts, complete or not, are just evidence of a creative time, left behind for others.
