(The problem with being #ContingentFaculty is that you are technically not required to do many of the things that #TenuredFaculty do. But if you have any hopes of securing a more permanent position, you have to continue building your CV with stuff that is, well, the stuff required of tenured folks.)

Follow-up thought here: not only do you have to do things that you aren't "required" to do, but you are also trying to accomplish them without the perks of a lighter courseload and with less institutional support than tenured or tenure-track faculty enjoy.

It's actually pretty messed up, isn't it?
