Open Source implementation of GOG Galaxy's Communication Service, Comet sees a first release

While it still has plenty of work ahead of it, Comet is a very promising project to bring the full power of GOG Galaxy over to Linux without needing to run their client in Wine.

@gamingonlinux interesting, but I honestly don't see it being able to remotely compete with the excellent heroic launcher
@gamingonlinux Kind of nuts that, this many years later, this project is still necessary.
Wait,I thought we had an open source gog?it's called heroic launcher

Read the article.

Comet isn't competing with Heroic Launcher, it's extending its functionality by enabling achievements, cloud saves and possibly multiplayer via GOG Galaxy Services inside Heroic Launcher (and other launchers as well).

@gamingonlinux I have to say that I've been kind of looking forward to this.

I saw this project being mentioned in the talk about "Linux Gaming beyond Steam" at the Ubuntu Summit, so I've been keeping tabs on it.

I am really glad to see that more progress has been made and we are getting closer to fully supporting the Communication Service.

@gamingonlinux would be great if heroic implements this, it depends on how development goes oc. But looks promising

As usual i hope this makes playing GOG stuff on the Deck with 100% features and whatnot something easy and reliable
