When Democrats like George Clooney are calling for President Biden to drop out of the presidential race while masses of ordinary people are cheering Joe on, the obvious cause is Biden’s plan to make wealthy Americans pay their fair share. Sometimes it really is that simple.
@Strandjunker that is so ridiculous. George Clooney hates Trump. He didn't suddenly decide he's afraid of Biden's tax policy. He knows like other sane people, that Biden can't beat Trump. We wouldn't give a shit about Biden's mental decline if he was running against Gerald Ford. We're worried he can't beat Trump. That's what all these "secretly Trump supporting" boring, vanilla American, British and Canadian journalists are worried about too. He can't beat him by putting himself to bed at 8pm every night. And then we're fucking doomed. Is the issue.
@Geoffberner @Strandjunker WE have to beat Trump. There is no evidence of mental decline. His Physical on February 28th said as much and has been available to the media since March 1st. They just choose to ignore facts and pursue fantasy in hopes that the Fascust will look kindly on them and only jail their enemies.
@Breathe @Strandjunker there is so much evidence of mental decline. So much. When the press asks "what's wrong with the President?" and his people say "Oh, nothing, anybody would be tired after a week at Camp David" they are being dishonest, and more and more reasonable, good, anti-fascist people can see that, every day. That trend is not going to reverse.
@Geoffberner @Strandjunker there is a coordinated effort to split the base of Biden's support. If we decide to abandon Biden, we will certainly abandon Kamala. If you think we hate Trump, just wait until the Democrats start infighting over the who gets to be the magic candidate. Biden currently has more support among the Democratic base than any other potential candidate. People will turn away from the Democrats and stay home. We must unite behind Biden or all is lost.
@Strandjunker No, its not that simple.
Just because a candidate wins a popularity contest does not mean they will be capable of making the timely and correct decisions at critical moments at 4am Eastern time when something happens in Ukraine at 11 am. We don’t have a way of knowing that. Only the team that works with the President on a daily basis can make a guess based on CURRENT performance.
As a country, we’ve been mostly lucky picking Presidents so far with some exceptions.
@bouriquet @Strandjunker yes indeed, the team working with Biden knows what's wrong with him. They should come clean about what it is, instead of saying "oh nothing, he's fine" and making wishes that won't come true.
@Geoffberner @Strandjunker It’s called many things including palace loyalty and keeping your job.
Time will tell.
@Strandjunker Everybody needs to calm the f*ck down. We went through this a year into Obama's first term. Dems thought he needed to do more and ran faster than a nosebleed. They then proceeded to use their majority to leave so much undone. Dems need to stop looking for perfect and look to preserve democracy. It's pretty simple.

@Strandjunker

I'm sick to my stomach over this *orchestrated* ageist attack on President Biden from Democrats.I'm old enough to remember 1968.

First, RFK challenged LBJ in the primary, forcing him to drop out. Then violent protestors egged on by outside agitators attacked the Democratic National Convention and were savagely beaten by violent cops reporting to a Democratic mayor.

Let me be plain here: rich white guys and their allies at the New York Times are sowing dissension as bad as 1968 and they need to back off and apologize ASAP!

@Strandjunker Are these "masses of people cheering Joe on" in the room with us right now?
@Strandjunker George Looney is mad because he called the White House about his wife’s work and POTUS didn’t do what he said. So looney supports the rapist instead.

@Npars01 @Strandjunker And of course saw zero consequences.

Same as we handled the Business Plot back when.

@Strandjunker "...while masses of ordinary people are cheering Joe on..."

You realize Joe's poll numbers show him +19 disapprove to approve, right? Joe is not a popular president, and is not a popular candidate.

Trump is a massive shitstain that requires a second flush to get out of our lives. But the DNC, for *reasons*, is working very very hard to lose to a felon. Which might be the most Democratic Party thing ever.

@Strandjunker I don't know how ordinary I am, but I wish both parties had different candidates. Most people I speak with on a regular basis wish the same.

@Strandjunker You have it exactly backwards: the Dem party elites are doing what they always do, *protecting* the established structure — in this case Biden. Not only is this analysis just as simple, it doesn’t play that creepy, cynical game of exploiting people’s alienation and anxiety.

The Bonfire of the Democrats

We are witnessing the makings of a bad mix of ambition, apathy, politics and greed.

The Bulwark
@Strandjunker The liberal oligarchs are just as anti-Democratic as the conservative ones.
@Strandjunker man it's bad when even the celebrities are more leftist than you

@Strandjunker @eilonwy Do you honestly believe that George Clooney is solely focused on lowering his taxes? The guy has raised hundreds of millions for multiple Dem candidates over the past decades, including Biden himself.

Do you guys just not realize how insane you sound? I thought Dems were supposed to be the rational party, not MAGA Lite.

Seeing so much of this honestly has me wanting to leave the party. I’m anti-Trump, not pro-conspiracy.

@dogzilla @Strandjunker @eilonwy I will vote for any democrat, but the noise Clooney is making is hurting Biden and ANY OTHER EVENTUAL CANDIDATE

@alvaro @Strandjunker @eilonwy Maybe, maybe not. He thinks he’s doing what’s right, just like you do. You just disagree.

But how does that translate into claiming George Clooney is an oligarch trying to tank a presidential campaign so he can save on taxes? When did Dems decide that anyone who disagrees is the worst possible version of themselves? I always thought Dems were better than that. Really disappointing to see.

@dogzilla @Strandjunker @eilonwy there is a time for that, and that time is gone.
@alvaro @Strandjunker @eilonwy So much for that “big tent party”, huh? Now Dems want purity tests and loyalty oaths too. Great example of why George Washington felt political parties corrupted the public.
@dogzilla @Strandjunker @eilonwy That doesn't make sense, weren't there primaries? THAT is the time, not whenever you want, that is noise
@alvaro @Strandjunker @eilonwy Are you responding to someone else? I don’t understand this comment.
@dogzilla @Strandjunker @eilonwy last time, I hope you understand it now: The primaries is the time to discuss and select the candidate. Biden won the primaries with 14 million votes. Tat is the democratic process. Whining after the fact is not.

@alvaro @Strandjunker @eilonwy One last time from me: that is a bad faith argument and I think you know it.

Those were not actual primaries: people don’t run against incumbent Presidents. Coupled with the fact that Biden or his campaign was actively hiding his mental/physical state, potential candidates have every reason to feel cheated. As a voter, I feel cheated for not getting the chance to fairly evaluate Biden and decide who should represent me.

@dogzilla @Strandjunker @eilonwy So according to you the primary election was... stolen? OK. It is clear where you are going... I'm not interested in talking to you anymore.
