The Playdate makes a surprisingly good e-reader

Following distraction-free reading devices like the Boox Palma, the Playdate handheld gaming system now has an e-reader app.

@idreesinc @playdate I might get one just for this 😬
@idreesinc @playdate as silly as it sounds this may have sold me on getting one lol
@mvu @playdate You should! It is a brilliant little device with tons of really great games by amazing game devs built-in! I don't know if my reading app is worth the investment alone, but the games are totally worth it.
@idreesinc @playdate Playbook is genuinely my most used app on my Playdate. I like e-readers, but the Playdate is actually a size where I can always have it with me and read a bit here and there wherever I am. And using the crank to scroll is just fun!
@SevenStack @playdate I am so glad to hear that! I didn't have high expectations when I first started working on it, but the playdate turned out to be a bit more practical as an ereader than I had first expected!
@idreesinc your ebook reader looks SO cool - love that candle progress indicator!! 😍
@jake4480 Thank you so much, I was quite proud of that candle thing!
@idreesinc haha and cranking to read - can't wait to grab a Playdate and try it. It's definitely in my future. Been making a note of some of the games that look great for it too. LOVING all the indie games being designed for it. Egg touching also looks amazing 🀣
@idreesinc @playdate I read that and almost bought one! Was gonna show @Gabrielle. It's neat, good work!
@idreesinc @playdate yooooo i'm proud that's aweome + i love my playdate
