Looking in the compost pile, what do I see?
Thousands and thousands of maggots, feeding in glee
What kind of fat squirmy creatures are these?
Burrowed deep in my food scrap and leaves?
I hope you're the good ones adding nutrition for plants
And not a plague of houseflies following the ants

How would you like your maggots cooked for your lunch?
I don't think I'd want them to munch
They're healthy, sustainable, plenty, and free!
I really don't think they're something for me
Deep fried, sauteed, or slathered on toast?
I'm thinking eating maggots is not something for most

ps. apologies

Oooh, these maggots are used for fish food! I should pull some out and feed them to the goldfish here!! #fishfood

He he he, these maggots in here are the future of food. #maggots

Hmm, too bad I don't have chickens.

@ai6yr I don’t know you, but I also kinda know you?

I feel like this should read “I don’t have chickens… yet”

@j LOL, true, if the next door neighbors weren't so anti-nature/etc. would have them by now.
@ai6yr Time to convince your neighbors if they sold their home they could have property in TN.
