First book to give me a deep dive into American imperialism, the harm we cause other countries thru exploitation and why some ppl despise us.
@504DR @DoomsdaysCW @breadandcircuses My takeaway (~30) years after reading remains: An energy interest identifies something it wants within your political boundaries. At first, country heads are wined, dined, bribed and coerced to allow access. Failing that, a coup attempt, and failing that, a military assault.

What really sticks in my mind also, was the role that the World Bank and IMF played in facilitating it all.
The forever-debt that those exploited countries were burdened with.
And how they were unable to provide adequately for their own ppl bc of that debt.
