Joe Biden has one subpar debate, and the New York Times calls for him to drop out.
Donald Trump got convicted of 34 felonies, and the New York Times said nothing.

@tristansnell
The evidence is clear.
It's time for the NYT to drop out. They served a purpose in the pre-Trump world, they serve no useful purpose now.
Is this the same NYT that keeps running Republican hit pieces against trans people?
Calling last nights debate just "subpar" is quite an understatement. I can forgive his performance but not his decision to debate Trump and give him credibility and air time! The President of the United States didn't need to debate a felon for any reason.
@tristansnell I feel like there's a lot left in between the lines, the NY times are just not saying what everyone knows already.
If you're in the market for a Trump, you want someone who sucks at their job. You want them to tear down whatever government exists or be ineffective at it. You want the machinery to operate without Trump's involvement when you want it to work, and you want it to operate with Trump's involvement when you want it to fail. The 34 felonies are a feather in his cap.
If you're in the market for a Biden, you need someone capable. If Trump's ideal is a dunce, Biden's ideal is a high achiever. That's obviously much harder to pull off. Biden in his first term could pull off a solid B- performance with a few A+s thrown in there, but in the debate it's clear that his A+ days are behind him, and his B- is starting to look a lot more like a C-.
As a publication the NY Times has a lot of problems, but they're right about one thing: There are people looking for a Trump, but no one is looking for a Biden.
EDIT: I wrote this before knowing Trump shat his pants during the debate. I now regret ever trying to understand any of what's going on. There is no catharsis here, only screaming.
The way in which a thing is framed by media is as important as what is said about the thing or even whether the media is willing to cover the thing. Here's People's Exhibit 1. I just saw a news story on npr.org, stating that President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump had a debate ...
