Spent the night at my brother's place in the town I call home (one of the two homes tbh, divorced parents). Here the announcements for trains only happen in #German and #Romansh (the forth official language of #Switzerland). I never learned Romansh but it's on my bucket list ❤️

Now I am taking a train to Bern (the capital of Switzerland) to meet some friends 🫶
Funny enough, this train crosses from the most eastern region (Grisons) to the most western one (Geneva) and therefore crosses through all four language regions (Italian/Romansh here, then German, then French). This means all announcements are now in four languages: German, French, Italian and English.
At some point on the journey, it will only be in German, French& English. (2/3)
So, in case you've ever been wondering why people grown up in Switzerland (can in principle) speak at least 3 languages (mother tongue + other most used + English), this is your answer!

To make sure no Swiss is going to rip off my head:
Bern is officially called "the federal city" and not the capital. Long story short, Switzerland doesn't really have a capital, but the government and parliament for example have their seat in Bern.
