Any country that makes protecting your health or being poor a crime is not a real democracy.
@luckytran it's not even a real country.
@luckytran It has never been a real democracy and the steps we took to move toward democracy we have been walking back for decades.
@luckytran most especially when it is working to harm bodily and financial security
@luckytran
American democracy is on the verge of destruction by white-life christofascists.
You can sit on your ass or stand up and do something to protect it. Tick-tick

@luckytran

Another tell that a country isn’t a real democracy:

When media, elected officials, government agencies, companies, even the public itself refer to the public most often as “consumers” and rarely ever as “citizens,” there’s something pretty messed up about that country.

@luckytran All the organizations founded to protect us from these monsters have failed us. Where is the Center for Constitutional Rights, the ACLU, or the Southern Poverty Law Center??? I don't know how it can be done, but there needs to be an injunction filed against Alito and Thomas for unconstitutional actions and conspiracy against the united states. Forget their crazy rulings, the "originalism" position is that they'd get challenged to a pistol duel for what they're doing.

@luckytran

Thank you for calling it as it is--the difference between mob rule and democracy is a moral one. A mob will not respect the rights of the individual when those rights run counter to the zeitgeist of the mob, a democracy will respect the rights of the individual even when they run counter to the interests of the largest voting bloc.

@noyes @luckytran seriously. And where are the supposed libertarians when there’s actually something worth them getting mad at?
@luckytran
"Any country that makes protecting your health or being poor a crime is not a real democracy."
Could you explain better this with some example? Sorry, but I couldn't understand. Thanks
@turbo The U.S. have a bunch of states passing legislation banning mask wearing (blaming it on crime, but just another piece of the culture war against vaccines, masks etc), and some states are looking at making homelessness a jailable crime (so if you're sleeping rough, you'll be sent to prison and be forced to work, just for the cruelty and private-prison profit of it).
