Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro: "Look, I think Joe #Biden had a bad debate night, but it doesn't change the fact that Donald #Trump was a bad president, a bad president who ripped away our freedoms, a bad president who drove our economy into the ditch, a bad president who exacerbated the problems of climate change, and a guy who stood on the stage last night and not only lied about his past, but lied about the kinds of things he's proposing for the future." —MSNBC
@GottaLaff All true. But that’s not going to get Biden re-elected

@Marielvd @GottaLaff
Do know what would help get Democrats elected this fall?

Supporting Democrats will help them get elected this fall.

I'd hope that today's SCOTUS rulings would have finally convinced everyone that if they care about important stuff like global warming to support democracy, but as with all my efforts over the last few decades to get climate action I'm disappointed with the dialogue online for the most part sadly.

@GottaLaff Biden was not impressive but, because Trump is always this way, everyone is overlooking, long rants where he said nothing. He is always good at saying nothing specific, not answering questions.

@twitloyalist

… or most infuriating talking so much that he ends up taking both sides of the same argument

@GottaLaff

@GottaLaff
I think Biden should have taken advantage of his CDC's stats and pointed out that because of Trump's malevolent non-management of the covid pandemic at least 400K Americans died than should have, and that the US handled the pandemic worse than anybody in the Global North, basically making Trump a mass murderer.

@GottaLaff

NFL...

and it's hard to "debate" a firehose of lies and flung poo... from a drugged up imbecilic moron who never spoke one truth... it's not a setting that is conducive to debate.. trump doesn't debate... he never has and never will and to give him that setting is an impossibility for everyone.

and for CNN to say they were setting up a classic Nixion\Kennedy type scenario... just tells you CNN are imbecilic morons as well.

@GottaLaff the perception the debate created favoured Trump very much and if this continues, he will win the election.
@halfbloodprice You don’t know that.
@GottaLaff I think Trump should have been questioned on the platform about his claims and statements but Biden nor the CNN did that.
@halfbloodprice Shoulds are irrelevant today.
@GottaLaff I'm neither sad nor disappointed. Biden may be old, he may stumble given his stutter, but everything he said was the truth. Everything he said was the truth, everything. Each bragadocious statement from Trump was a glorified lie.
The reason we have VPs is in the event of a death or failure in the Oval Office, and Kamala Harris is perfect capable of carrying us forward. If he felt he was completely incapable, he would step aside. That's the man he is.
@Atticus1956 And he did not “lose,” he won on the substantive points.
@Atticus1956 I so wish I could share your position, but I'm both sad and disappointed. I'll vote for Joe no matter, but I strongly feel if some younger, sharper candidate (and not Kamala) doesn't step up, the Democaratic hopes are doomed. Not only for the presidency, but for all candidates who must have Biden by their side in their campaigns. The thing standing out to me most last night was Biden's inability to call Trump on the constant lies he spouted.

@sandlapper37

Had Biden spent all of his 2 min.s calling out Trump's falsehoods, there would've been no time to respond to the questions....which, BTW, Trump was allowed to continue the verbal pummeling of Biden while not responding to the questions.
The moderators did a piss poor job (pardon my language) reining in Trump's rants & raves.

@Atticus1956 I agree wholeheartedly about the moderators inability to hold Trump to questions asked. Nonetheless, Biden failed miserably to tear down Trump's lies...

@Atticus1956 @GottaLaff
Plus, tfg has still not picked his running mate. We know he will pick a lackey and may try to get him killed too

The moderators could of asked about their team to help them accomplish their goals. Especially after tfg bragging about firing people

@GottaLaff

What do we do now?

@GottaLaff

Oh, I will vote, but you are preaching to the choir here, I'm not the problem, how do we damage control this to avoid voter apathy? What do I tell my apathetic friends and relatives. What do I tell people on the volunteer calls who are concerned about his age?

@manvsxerox Remind them who Trump is vs Biden
@GottaLaff He's right but he's wrong. The best thing Shapiro can do is whatever will get Biden to gracefully bow out of the race and release his delegates.
@MisterMoo Please say that elsewhere, not in my TL. Thanks.

@GottaLaff

What you get when you try and wrestle with a pig… pointless.

No matter how eloquently you speak, no matter any reasoning, the pig will squeak.

@GottaLaff I don’t care about any debates. They are not what I’m voting for. I’m voting for leadership, not oratory.

I’m voting for Biden. That’s a fact.

Screw the debates.

@Magooish I think you're not the voter this debate really mattered for. It matters for people who don't like Trump or Biden and now feel like they can't vote for either. Trump is Trump and Biden looks like he may not be able to lead. They're going to look seriously at staying home or voting for a third party.

@isthatthered
Fact: debates don’t change voter behavior.

Fact: there’s a lot of time between now and November.

If undecideds can’t see the stark differences between the two, they are not going to see it any better from this debate. If they vote trump simply because of this debate performance, or stay home or vote third party, it’s what they were going to do anyway. The debate just gives them cover for what they intended regardless.

@Magooish
You have your priorities straight...
Thank you !!
@GottaLaff I can't say Donald Trump is responsible for every crisis we face in this country right now. In fact, this pathetic-ass two party system is a huge part of how Trump got elected in the first place.
@wadewainio Nobody said he was responsible for every crisis. He IS responsible for unleashing racism and fascism so openly, and the GOP Fascist Party is responsible for always being who they are and doing what they do.

@GottaLaff
Yeah, I feel this.
It's going to get more interesting, and scary, soon. No idea who should replace him, he seems back up on the barricades but I don't think that will be enough. Sigh...

The thought of having to block out sound (and not look at the screen) when there's news about America again makes me cringe. I really can't stand T.'s voice and the way he speaks. The way he looks. The whole idea is nauseating.
