The weakness shown by stepping aside would hand the election to Trump.
Joe has done more for progressive causes than any president since Kennedy. The doomsaying is a bigger problem than one iffy debate performance. Step off the cliff and take a breath.
But if you were looking for an excuse to vote for Trump, well this is weak sauce but ok, you do you.

But he’s also stupid in some frightening ways due to his malignant narcissism. You can compliment him into doing almost anything.
His gift, if I could call it one - is his ability to doublespeak anything. It’s a rare thing but apparently attractive to a certain kind of personality. That has served him well his whole life, but it’s a hollow gift and eventually the malignancy reveals itself.

It’s not about Biden at the end of the day. It’s about Trump.
He’s going to focus on a weakness, that’s his Mo. what we are not good at is the kind of manipulation he and his minions excel at no matter who is the nominee.
No one else can beat him. If Biden can’t, no one can.

It’s ok to have doubts. At the end of the day those doubts may or may not be resolved, but they will need to be set aside.
One team.
One candidate
One vote.
Don’t pick on personalities. Pick on issues. Make that your focus. Because that’s really what’s at stake here and age and a bad debate are not.
Once we win in November if you want to call for him to step aside, that’s the time. For now it’s about hard teamwork.

A year or two isn’t the issue right now. All that matters right this moment is beating Trump. Without that a year or two won’t matter, because it’s game over.
I prefer longer thinking myself, as you do. In a million other circumstances you and I would be thinking similarly. Just don’t have the luxury, unfortunately.
This was a TV show. Trump will win every time.
Biden should not have agreed to this. Now he has to step aside.

The prevailing opinion is much more measured and sensible than it was right after the debate last night. A more careful look about Trump lying every time he opened his mouth, Gish Galloping away, with a much more substantial consideration overall, and seeing Biden more in his element has to be a major upswing.
