If you read only one thing today...make it this story about the #drone team from Brockton High:

"The other teams come from suburban districts, some offering aeronautical engineering programs. Others have parents who are engineers or have time and resources to take them on weekend drone excursions.

The Brockton kids speak multiple languages and have impressive GPAs, but they don’t have those built-in advantages. Quite the opposite. Two live in foster homes." https://www.wgbh.org/news/education-news/2024-06-24/brockton-high-students-fight-for-their-futures-at-americas-most-violent-high-school #droneracing

@gbhnews Reminds me of a Sports Illustrated story I read a long time ago about two Texas Little League baseball teams. One was from a high-crime, low-income urban area with little or no resources. The other team had the son of an oil executive on the roster, and was financed accordingly with top-of-the line equipment and uniforms, fancy meals, and trips to tournaments on a private jet. Of course, they faced each other in a tournament and the rich kids got clobbered.
