Ugh. Okay, I've pretty much completed my testing of the chrome extensions I run and how they affected my browser's performance via Speedometer3. Narrowed down the major offenders. Sadly, TWO of the perf hogs are extensions I consider mandatory - #Bitwarden and #uBlockOrigin. Those two alone take the score from >15 down to ~13. Everything else besides those listed below have negligible impact.

I'd switch wholesale to #ProtonPass as a password manager, its extension has zero perf impact on Chrome, but I need it across my iPhone as well and the iOS app supports only iOS16 and above so that's a dealbreaker. Have to use Bitwarden. My frustration with apps that force you to use a particular minimum iOS is fucking REAL. If Bitwarden supports iOS15, then ProtonPass damn well can ...2/4

uBlock Origin is apparently the best perf/mem usage of all the adblockers from what I've read. Maybe I could switch back to #PiHole on one of my #RaspberryPi's and offload adblocking elsewhere, but that would just be for myself, I had problems with it and others in this household. I'll consider it though, because I'm Just. That. Anal.

#FormHistoryControl is something I would have also considered mandatory. It's a realtime web form contents saver a la #Typio, so that if your ...3/4

browser screws up while you're typing up a forum or blog post or whatever, you can use FHC to find and refill the saved text for that field. VERY useful. Might have to find an alternative or just swallow the (albeit minor) perf impact. I quit using Typio because it just wasn't consistently doing what I wanted it to.

That concludes my testing for now. 4/4

@dhry Hi, #pihole will never fully replace any browser Addon. It go best side by side. #pihole protects the network and the browser extension blocks ads in sites like YouTube
