Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

@caseyliss I want this to be THEE Passwords App so bad but I’m afraid I’m going to be let down. 1Password for all of its flaws it’s still more painless than trying to use Keychain.
@jxmullins Not to me. It’s gotten so bad that I switched back to Keychain. And I’m a family plan user with my wife and two kids on it. So many bugs, and crashes even on Chrome and Firefox.
@javier I’ve read plenty of people having the same issues and for some reason my use cases haven’t encountered the issues. (Will probably happen in 24 hours now!). I may not be pushing its limits but I’m also on family plan with same amount of people. What’s the odds that Apple makes it cross platform to Win and Linux?
@jxmullins @javier I believe passwords are already accessible in the Windows iCloud app: https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9pktq5699m62
iCloud - Official app in the Microsoft Store

With the redesigned iCloud for Windows app, you can access photos, files, passwords, and other important information from your iPhone or other Apple devices on your Windows PC. iCloud Photos • Access and view your iCloud photos directly in the Microsoft Photos app in Windows 11. • Keep your photos up to date across all your devices and your PC. • Create Shared Albums and invite others to add photos, videos, and comments. iCloud Drive • Access your files and folders from iCloud Drive directly in File Explorer. • Share files and sync updates back to iCloud Drive automatically. iCloud Passwords • Easily login to websites with the user names and strong passwords that you’ve saved to iCloud Keychain. • Access your passwords and save new ones in the iCloud Passwords app. • When you’re logging in to websites, the iCloud Passwords extension in Chrome or Edge autofills passwords and saves new ones. • Generate verification codes to help you sign in to websites. iCloud Contacts, Calendars, and Bookmarks • View your iCloud calendars and contacts in Outlook. • Sync and merge your bookmarks from Safari with the iCloud Bookmarks extension in Chrome, Edge or Firefox.

Microsoft Apps
@globex @javier It is but it’s finicky at best and outright horrible at worst. I’ve had to restore passwords several times because it would sync to a new setup and instead of copying to the target it would copy from and erase the cloud sync.
@jxmullins @javier Oof that sounds awful. I need Windows support and it sounds like the iCloud app ain’t it! 🙂
@jxmullins @caseyliss It’s been a while since I tried 1Password, but when I did I found adding my own passwords to be so onerous I just stuck to my password protected text file of credentials. Then I tried Keychain and never looked back. Now my text file that had 100+ passwords just has about 10+ security questions (for those sites that force you to pick answers from a menu). I hope this new app can handle them.
@caseyliss I’m not going to pick you up. You should know better by now.
@caseyliss 1Password's big strength is that it's multi platform and multi browser. Let's see how this compares
@hectorvs @caseyliss was gonna say the same thing. I'm a safari user on macOS and iOS, but wife uses *shrugs* Chrome.
@caseyliss I have a Linux laptop so 1Password is still my manager. Still, interested to see what Apple will announce!
@caseyliss thank goodness. next week can’t come soon enough!
@caseyliss assuming they do this, so much of whether I can use it is going to rest on whether they have a way for me to fill a password in to Firefox on Windows. So… not incredibly hopeful this year.
@caseyliss nice logical step after they spent time improving windows support and recently opening it to other browsers on MacOS. Very excited. Hopefully they add a few nice to have features like quicker access to favorites and 2 Factor codes.
@caseyliss Our family sub just renewed but if this works better most of the time...
@caseyliss I just shared a screen recording of a nightmare 1Password fill from hell and support said “quit it daily” and provided 8 steps.
@caseyliss If it doesn’t have a separate password from your device passcode or Apple ID, or if unlocking requires biometrics, it’s not for me. For me that’s one reason I’m staying on 1P still; that, plus the ability to have more than just passwords and passkeys, plus 1P’s separate security key that adds extra protection to the password. I’m able to get around 1P occasional hiccups on macOS, and the electron version just doesn’t bother me as a user.
