There's probably half a dozen reasons I prefer my problematic Swedish music streamer to the eponymous offering from Cupertino, and here's one.

If you like the music in a TV show like "Outer Range?" There's a pretty good chance someone has made a playlist of it. In this case, the playlist was made by the company that makes the show.

This is awesome, and everyone should do this.

Another great one is the "Righteous Gemstones" playlist.

They've thought so much about what music can do for their story.

How about an influential punk rock concert movie?

The actual ~soundtrack~ has been OOP since the late 80s, and, weirdly, the movie only streams on Kanopy.

But, somebody cared enough to make a playlist of the original songs and then shared it. They gave you a little piece of their heart.

Apple Music is mostly a tureen for the squirty 808 fistulas of dysthymic 26-year-old boys with clip art face tattoos.

Not a ton of heart.

One time iTunes Match creamed my personally uploaded and matched actual personal copy of “The Blueprint.”

They replaced it with a lower bitrate *CLEAN* version. Wheeee!

Metadata matters, you dingalings.

@hotdogsladies and this one always makes me sad. “Match” substituted the LIVE version of one track on one of my Bob Dylan records which triggered me no end
@hotdogsladies this was how I felt when I tried iTunes Match
@hotdogsladies Relatedly unrelated, if you happen to still have a bunch of mp3s lying around, I feel like you might be the type of person who digs what plexamp is doing.

@kneath

Kyle, this app is mind-boggling.

Thank you!

@hotdogsladies Awesome! I've really been enjoying it the past month.

Plus, I finally get to prove to the very long list of ex-girlfriends and store clerks how silly they were for making fun of me for meticulously hauling around these mp3s for two decades.

@hotdogsladies I had a song that was replaced with a song with a radio announcer in the middle of the song!!!

I moaned to support about it and they credited my account .99c to buy the proper version 😂

@hotdogsladies my careful Dan The Automator uploads got replaced with instrumentals.
@hotdogsladies I want to argue against you here, but I cannot, of course. I will simply live with my mistakes.

@hotdogsladies

You've seen pappy's epitaph then?

@hotdogsladies I couldn’t tell you exactly how, but Fruit Company has made it so difficult to build and post and share playlists that all the music mags and sites and blogs noncommercial radio and social media posters can’t be bothered.

It’s highly telling that their own joke of ‘100 best albums’ linked to a website of carousel images, but never to any of the music in their streaming platform. What gives with THAT?

@hotdogsladies anything Danny McBride is gold. My wife and I are rewatching Vice Principals for the 3rd time now.

@mingistech

I recently realized that anything that team makes in slow motion becomes an instant classic.

@hotdogsladies yes, have you seen the Ashley Schaeffer outtakes from East Bound? Incredible. https://youtu.be/AKM3pyktIXw?si=GjPRkBI6wFJM58sL

That show is so goddamned funny. Just solely the antics between Danny and Walton but then—every thing else too.

@hotdogsladies runnin through the house with a pickle in my mouth

@powerllama

The commitment is unreal.

"Pies on the windowsill, swimmin’ in the crick.
Catchin’ crawdads and playin’ with a stick.
I wore lipstick.
And I got caught shavin’.
Just two little country kids outside misbehavin’."

@hotdogsladies is there a better made for tv song? I think not. And god dammit now it’s in my head again

@hotdogsladies I may need to experiment with Spotify again.

I remember when they first came to the US in 2011 and the audio quality was not great, and I was won over by “Mog” due to their higher quality streaming (also Spotify lacked Pink Floyd and RHCP?). Mog eventually became Beats Music, which turned into Apple Music.

@hotdogsladies Oh how I miss the soundtrack playlists. If you haven't already, check out lists for “Breaking Bad” and “Legion.” There's some great music there! I rebuilt the Breaking Bad soundtrack as well as I could in Fruit Music.

@hotdogsladies the other day we played a new board game (“Raccoon Tycoon” - great name no notes) and wouldn’t ya know it someone had made a “Raccoon Tycoon Game Night” playlist and it was awesome
@hotdogsladies I’m so conflicted by the (rumored?) price increase. Are they $20/m better than what I get with Apple’s bundle (that I have for other reasons)? So far, yes, but it’s getting increasingly hard to justify for both. Something something antitrust help me

@hotdogsladies

This is 100% true.

Semi related. Have you used @viticci's ChatGPT shortcut to generate playlists? This is a -killer- feature. Tell the shortcut what you like, then say "generate playlist of _____" and boom, it makes an exportable playlist that opens in Apple Music.
