There's probably half a dozen reasons I prefer my problematic Swedish music streamer to the eponymous offering from Cupertino, and here's one.

If you like the music in a TV show like "Outer Range?" There's a pretty good chance someone has made a playlist of it. In this case, the playlist was made by the company that makes the show.

This is awesome, and everyone should do this.

Another great one is the "Righteous Gemstones" playlist.

They've thought so much about what music can do for their story.

How about an influential punk rock concert movie?

The actual ~soundtrack~ has been OOP since the late 80s, and, weirdly, the movie only streams on Kanopy.

But, somebody cared enough to make a playlist of the original songs and then shared it. They gave you a little piece of their heart.

Apple Music is mostly a tureen for the squirty 808 fistulas of dysthymic 26-year-old boys with clip art face tattoos.

Not a ton of heart.

One time iTunes Match creamed my personally uploaded and matched actual personal copy of “The Blueprint.”

They replaced it with a lower bitrate *CLEAN* version. Wheeee!

Metadata matters, you dingalings.

@hotdogsladies and this one always makes me sad. “Match” substituted the LIVE version of one track on one of my Bob Dylan records which triggered me no end
@hotdogsladies this was how I felt when I tried iTunes Match
@hotdogsladies Relatedly unrelated, if you happen to still have a bunch of mp3s lying around, I feel like you might be the type of person who digs what plexamp is doing.

@kneath

Kyle, this app is mind-boggling.

Thank you!

@hotdogsladies Awesome! I've really been enjoying it the past month.

Plus, I finally get to prove to the very long list of ex-girlfriends and store clerks how silly they were for making fun of me for meticulously hauling around these mp3s for two decades.

@hotdogsladies I had a song that was replaced with a song with a radio announcer in the middle of the song!!!

I moaned to support about it and they credited my account .99c to buy the proper version 😂

@hotdogsladies my careful Dan The Automator uploads got replaced with instrumentals.
@hotdogsladies I want to argue against you here, but I cannot, of course. I will simply live with my mistakes.

@hotdogsladies

You've seen pappy's epitaph then?

@hotdogsladies I couldn’t tell you exactly how, but Fruit Company has made it so difficult to build and post and share playlists that all the music mags and sites and blogs noncommercial radio and social media posters can’t be bothered.

It’s highly telling that their own joke of ‘100 best albums’ linked to a website of carousel images, but never to any of the music in their streaming platform. What gives with THAT?
