NARRATOR: but he was too late. The network had indeed been infested with progressives and the fate of his account was sealed
Saw this on reddit earlier. Mods on a libertarian group banned and muted the person who posted it, because they didn't like it I guess.
@nathans I know this is a joke but in my nearest regional centre this is very much not a joke.
There's a whole culture of 'cyclist as in fuck licensing and testing'.
If I lived within 100km of a vet and a pharmacy I would probably be one of them.
@nathans Just fyi, as we mention in our bicycle security section (https://bikemonterey.org/tips-for-tourists/bicycle-safety) “REQUIRING bike registration is not a bike-friendly policy! [And in fact, note this update: California Assembly Bill 1909 (Friedman-Haney-Portantino), signed by the Governor on September 16, 2022, amends CA Vehicle Code Section 39002 so that a city or county that adopts a bicycle licensing ordinance or resolution shall not prohibit the operation of an unlicensed bicycle. See details, as well as when this and other bike-related provisions of AB 1909 become effective: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB1909 ]
However, when a city or county offers optional registration, you may want to take advantage of that, in case of theft. As @Schlining may be aware of, some police depts in Monterey County, such as Pacific Grove PD, have offered that option.
