At a mid-east grocery shop today:

"A small container of labneh please. Where is yours made?"
"It's pressed yoghurt!"
"Oh yes I know but where is it made? Is it made in Montreal!"
"Yoghurt! It's yoghurt. I'll give you a taste."
"No, sorry I'm just asking where do you get it from? Where is it made?"
*Gives me a sample on a spoon*
[Proudly] "We make it here."

#Sigh. #labneh

Then he gave us a tiny sample of their garlic version. That was an hour ago and I've eaten things since and am still tasting the garlic. lol
@ottaross Which shop was this? Sounds good...
@qui_oui it's a very good store called, not very creatively, "MidEast Grocery" on St. Laurent if you're in the area. A real treasure.
@ottaross Is it Mid-East Food Centre?
@qui_oui yes that's them.
@ottaross Thanks! I'm not usually in that area but next time, I'll make a point of checking out that store.

@qui_oui Yes, it's a bit of a drive for us too - but we were over to Ritchie Feed & Seed to get some garden plants this morning, and it seemed like a good detour on the way back. Picked up a few tasty items.

If you like tea, they've always got a really good selection in that section too. Plus lots of different dried grains, beans, etc. Too many other things to list!
