If you hate Windows, simply switch to Linux so you can hate Linux instead
@schratze Eight out of ten sysadmins can't be wrong!
@schratze i use arch btw
@eichkat3r @schratze
Which makes you responsible for almost everything, which is broken on your system.
@schratze I feel that in my soul. 🤣
@schratze I don't hate it but it has frustrated me once in a while
I would like to interject for a moment...
@schratze I've now used all 3 major modern OSes enough to be convinced that the only way anyone could truly like any of them is via Stockholm Syndrome. They've all got silly quirks and annoyances that have to be overlooked in order to be useful as daily drivers.

@schratze

It is a little like healthcare. Ask people around the world how they like the healthcare system in their country and they will all complain. But then ask them if they want to trade with the US!

I have to use Windows at work and I use Linux at home. So I get a daily reminder how much better off I am at home.

@SnerkRabbledauber @schratze Yeah, same. Except if somehow a file system got corrupted. Can't it just do fsck instead of throwing me to that weird emergency "shell"? (At least Mint does, other distributions might do that better.)
@schratze *so you can hate linux and windows. clearly superior.
@schratze You say as I’m about to repurpose an old SATA SSD for a Linux install.
@schratze love Linux 'cause I can fail faster

@schratze I hate Windows. But love Linux (Mint) so much I regularly donate some money and I'm doing this with a good feeling.

While I hate Windows even more, because I pay it as a kind of "Tax" when buying new hardware that ships with this cancer of an OS...

@schratze Wiser words have never been spoken.
@schratze stop using computers so you can start to love again
@schratze I normally love G/L (specially its formidable pipeable terminal toolbox). Yes, sometimes I too want to crush my computer, but it usually leads me (after random hours of madness) to learn yet one more thing I may apply elsewhere. That didn't happen on Windows.
@schratze This also applies to macOS, after you've tried out Linux.

@schratze I'm trapped in a constant cycle of all 3 OSs... I switch from Windows full time to Linux full time, I'm happy for a year or 2 and then start drooling over Mac OS.

Then I'm on Mac OS for like 3 or 4 years, and start yearning for the freedom and customisability of Linux again... Rinse repeat.

@schratze I missed the memo, I switched to Linux & love it instead. Or, if I don't love it, I don't see it, because it just lets me do my work.
@schratze Linux allows you to harness your rage into reading endless forum posts though
@schratze I generalize this approach into hating all computers.
@schratze you learn to enjoy the suffering.
@schratze What if I hate all computers
@schratze
tired: hating Windows
wired: hating computers

@schratze

Hate YOURSELF instead, in my case.

@schratze But I don't hate it lol
@schratze Quite the same is true if you ditch MS Office for LibreOffice - or if you decide to write your PhD in LaTeX
@schratze I did this and it changed my life

@schratze problem solved!

(Without comment on any problems that may or may not have been gained)

@schratze I feel seen here, having worked* with both.
@schratze did so long time ago
now I hate computers in general, and those running Windows a little bit extra
I already hate MacOS and Linux. Should I also give Windows a try?
jokes aside, last windows I worked with was XP, and I didn't hate it and even kinda liked it
@oleksiy I think current Windows 10 is quite alright, but seems like it won't support (make proper use of) new types of CPUs with different core types, which is a shame. Because I think Windows 11 is kind of atrocious in how they stripped a lot of customization and generally made a lot of dumb decisions imo.
@xiso yeah, I've heard the complaints about taskbar being permanently pinned to the bottom of the screen without options to move it to the side. I guess that's not the only limitation that's there
@oleksiy that's one thing won't be getting used to, because I'm using taskbar on the side since Windows 7, works out better for me on 16:9 screen, at least on laptop size. But also start menu became kind of a joke. I get that live tiles might not be for everyone, but it works just fine in general, allows for custom layouts and have distinctive look.
@schratze didn't work, i still hate Windows ...

@schratze
I was asking myself if I'm gonna feel the same feel here that I feel following dev profiles onTwitter

Your toot makes me feel that, thank you;

@schratze i hate The Linux Foundation because they only develop a kernel not a fricking operating system so would we have quality Linux OS

@gmate8 there are other reasons to hate the foundation but them not making a distro seems like a weird one to me :p

Yeah how fragmented things are does kinda suck but I don’t think the answer is to simply force everyone to work on one thing

@schratze You couldn't get me to hate my Arch workstation if you offered me a million gold doubloons.
@schratze GNU/Linux*.
You either hate the whole package or you don't.
@Mirk0dex @schratze as someone continually trying to get chimera linux to work, which uses ported versions of *bsd utilities

no, just linux, god i hate this distro why did i even try running something that's in pre-alpha

but also its the best distro and i love it
@schratze
Or rewrite Windows, lol.
@tibfulv @schratze ReactOS is a 26 year old project
@kQuote03 @schratze
Indeed. I was thinking of the 3.11/95/98 thing.
@schratze Würde ich ja machen, wenn "Sachen" unter Linux laufen würden, die (fast) ohne Murren unter Windoof laufen. ALLE Spiele z.B. etc. ohne Einschränkungen.
@schratze I didn't know it was possible to use the words "hate" and "linux" in one sentence! 🧐
