@lashman God, how I hate LinkedIn these days. It has become Facebook, disguised as a work-related platform. πŸ˜–
@metin yuuuuup! and actually, i lied - i didn't even open it :P i just got one of those "oh god, pleeeeeease come back" emails, lol :toucan:
@metin @lashman Well, sort of. Facebook is disaster, but there are sometimes little nuggets of joy in it. A new baby, an engagement, cat pictures, a dog playing fetch. LinkedIn has no joy.
@lashman we should nuke linkedin

@ctrl yes!
@lashman and wall street but that's unrelated

@ctrl yes, please, pretty please
@lashman the social platform for training patrick bateman clones
@lashman some companies are going to lose a lot of employees and then complain about how nobody wants to work anymore.
@BartV they already are, lol :toucan:
@lashman I've misread it as "controversial shit" and I like my version more
@lashman
I see how they describe one as a dream and another as a reality. Yuck.
@lashman I found the original post on LinkedIn. Every response is a variation of "this idea is stupid"
@HoovesAreBetter well, at least there's that, hahaha

@lashman Three day work weeks, you say?

(Just trying to whack the Overton Window back in the right direction.)

@lashman

I still have a LinkedIn account because one person contacts me from my childhood days. Other than that, I thought LinkedIn was just for scammers and spammers.

@lashman
FYI: I still have an active MySpace page, also. It takes forever to load.
@lashman I'm exploring the purchase of an office guillotine, myself...
@lashman How about no? No? Fuck no, then?
@stenpett that should be the correct response, yes :P

@lashman when the first shot is fired in the class wars, all we send these Linkfluencers to the LinkedIn mines to rot.

I propose a 996 schedule they desperately want to have https://996.icu/#/en_US

996.ICU

The name 996.ICU refers to 'Work by 996, sick in ICU', an ironic saying among Chinese programmers, which means that by following the 996 work schedule, you are risking yourself getting into ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Developers' Lifes Matter
@lashman only if I get the 4-hour workday

@lashman

Apparently Greece's (right wing) government actually voted to allow 6 day working weeks last year. They now allow up to 13 hour working days and up to 78 hour working weeks:

😱

What is wrong with people? Why would anyone sane vote for a government that does this?

The Parliament in Greece recently approved a new labor law that introduces a six-day work week and flexible working hours.

@FediThing jesus fucking christ!
@lashman it is the worst. Supposedly the most talented among us go there to find the best jobs, but that is never the case. So what is this hellscape even for? Bragging or begging. No in between.
@lashman @IAmDannyBoling Fuck that noise. People need downtime to have good lives.
@lashman
this reminds me of the "think tanks" that used to post blog pages about the benefits of low pay.
@Theriac yup, same energy, 100%
@Theriac @lashman They'd go to 8-day work weeks if they could. And make you pay them for the privilege of working.
@Theriac @lashman And RIGHT ON TIME AND TOPIC, I just learned that Loblaws of Canada, who made $53B profit last year, is advertising for unpaid volunteer store staff to work evenings and weekends doing inventory, restocking, customer service...
@lashman do you have the link?
@ropoko unfortunately not, sorry
@lashman time to start fighting for a THREE-day workweek then
@lashman Linkedin is a disease
@lashman Someone suggests Saturday classes to our Dept. of Education to cope with changing the school calendar back to pre-pandemic. I dunno man, I don't want to have my rest days shortened to only a day bruv
@Lucss21a holy cow, what a terrible idea
@lashman To add context, our school calendar was pushed to October when the pandemic happened, then it was slowly returning to normal since SY 2021-2022 (which started late August - early September iirc, when I entered JHS), SY 2022-2023 also started in August (it was August 22), then the current one started in August 31 (iirc). It was originally going to end in July but they decided to shorten the 2nd semester which consists of 3rd and 4th quarters. (1/2)
@lashman I heard some rumors, not yet confirmed that the new school year in the following months (because tomorrow is the end of classes) will end sometime in March, which means syncing back to the old June-March schedule pre-pandemic, and it was suggested to have Saturday classes to cope up with the missing days (which is like a month lmao) (2/2)
@lashman nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.
@lashman Is a nation-wide obsession with guillotines in our near future! Read more!
@lashman I really hate how LinkedIn is all-but-required to get hired in software engineering 🫠 it's so cringe, and I really just try to stick with DMing hiring managers lol
@BiggestBulb yeah, no joke! it's beyond depressing
@BiggestBulb @lashman ugh.. i dont think i have the mental fortitude to use linkedin this sucks
@lashman Soooo many hobby businesses dressed up as corporations.
