I asked Google "who ruined Google" and they replied honestly using their AI, which is now forced on all of us. It's too funny not to share!

@nixCraft

It started going downhill 20 years ago.

But, because not enough people were paying attention, it was not widely reported.

It also demosrates that the corpus that google is using does not go back far.

There was an article a few years ago about the "people who are the algorithm". a large number of Minimum-wagish young people primarily located in the Midwest USA would prioritize the (english) search results pages. For example searching for "red car" returns a category page of 100 sites, and some young person decides what shows up #1 - 100. It's not likely one searches a "live database". The main issue with this is most of the time the worker can't afford the products they are prioritizing, so how would they know which red car is #1, 2, 3, etc. I suppose big G is using that "training" for it's AI thingy. But the most interesting thing about this is that companies have spent crazy money on "SEO" gurus and crap. which makes the expense meaningless in that regard lol.
