All flavors of Linux makes the screen blink every second or so on this old Latitude 5480. I was going to try Chrome OS flex just to have some fun use for it, but of course that's also based on Linux ... Windows is fine, and even Haiku is fine, but in the latter I don't get trackpad or wifi support πŸ™

Old Blinky, we call him
@gunnarsson If you're on X try Wayland, and vice versa.
@thegurkha I've installed Ubuntu, and that's on Wayland. The others I've just booted into from a USB stick, but immediately gotten the same experience. I guess they could all have been Wayland. I'll give it a try! Thank you πŸ™
@gunnarsson Yes, Ubuntu defaults to Wayland, but you can choose to use X from the login screen. Once you've clicked on your name and the password field appears, a cog appears in the lower right of the screen. That gives you a menu to choose GNOME or GNOME on X.
@thegurkha Yeah, I tried it yesterday but sadly got the same blinking. Maybe something is wrong with the machine, I haven't found anybody else with this particular style of flickering problems.
@gunnarsson Yes, perhaps it is localised to that particular device.
