@CenDemTech recommends prohibiting content like #deepfakes that harasses based on gender/race. For women politicians, Meta should provide transparency reports on #elections #misinformation before, during, and after polls.
Meta must grant researchers access to data on #deepfakes, gendered #disinformation & #onlineGBV to study their impact, especially on marginalized groups like women of color in the U.S. & minority women in India. Annual risk assessments as per EU rules are key.
#ContentModeration systems at Meta, including human reviewers and algorithms, need to be attuned to the unique threats faced by women public figures from intersecting identities like race, caste, religion etc.
Tackling online gender-based violence and disinformation targeting women leaders requires a multi-pronged approach - clear policies, transparency, research access and nuanced content moderation. @CenDemTech's recommendations lay out a roadmap for Meta.
