While I'm ranting, there were plenty of folks who were unhappy that we had John McAfee at LV years ago. As the startup event, we had to start with common criminals before working our way up to war criminals as the big cons have had- and I saw few complaints about the war criminals from the same folks.
If John did what it is alleged he did (and I do not doubt it), he had the decency to do it personally, rather than remotely, in comfort, without personal risk.

@jack_daniel He wrote the best guide to how to handle corruption that I’ve ever read. It should be required reading for anyone travelling somewhere they’re likely to encounter petty bribery.

The genius of it is how he explains the world view that you have to operate inside, as well as the ways to navigate it. From paying bribes to pulling out fake journalist credentials, to deescalating situations and handling egos and reputations. How to give face and keep things from getting out of hand.

Truly amazing. I don’t know if he wrote anything else that was any good, but this was excellent.

The McAfee central America Travel Guide - Who Is McAfee?

Who Is McAfee?
@thegrugq @jack_daniel he is missed big time even with his quirks

@thegrugq @jack_daniel that was quite a rewarding read. Anyhow I guess every community has their black sheep. I remember Capt Crunch attending one BerlinSides which after all being said and done made at least me uncomfortable.

I dunno about the war criminals though, that one sounds like an interesting story

@ppxl @thegrugq IIRC, A few years ago MJR said that the last US president who wasn't a war criminal was Millard Fillmore. Politicians and folks with stars on their uniforms have been regular on the con "keynote" circuit.
