Really sad that the Living Computer Museum is still closed with no apparent plans to reopen — it was such a cool place to visit.

Apparently Paul Allen didn’t leave any plans to keep the museum running in his will.

oops, I have violated the terms of my affiliate appointment at UW by not referring to him as “Paul G. Allen”
@dan LOL I remember the official guidance on that issue
@tobinbaker and god forbid that you should spell “Computer Science & Engineering” with anything other than an ampersand!
@dan @tobinbaker Your wine shop should be called Dan & Ports

@dan @tobinbaker we got official guidance that we are now to refer to the college we are in as The John and Marsha Price College of Engineering, Price College of Engineering is not allowed except in certain exceptional cases

Also the new building they're starting will be the Price Computing and Engineering Building, but c'mon you gotta just call it the PCB, right?

@dan Paul G Allen? Didn't they name a tour after him?

@dan Paul Allen doesn’t seem to have done anything to ensure that any of his projects would continue to operate and be accessible to the public after his death. And he had plenty of time and resources to have made such plans. Not a great legacy!

Weird error of omission in that article: the Cinerama theater was sold to SIFF last year and has reopened.

@garland The article was written in September 2022
@JasonW Oh gotcha. I was just looking at the date at the top of the page, which is today.
@garland I was confused for the same reason, and then I noticed the author’s bio was written in the past tense
@dan that sucks, I was looking forward to visiting someday with my kids. oh well, at least I got to play Oregon Trail one last time there
@dan such a lost opportunity
