I’m muting this thread so nobody else can tell me that they don’t know who Michael Cera is (congrats?)
@sophie [Googles Michael Cera] 😁
@matthiasott @sophie there’s really good band named Michael Cera Palin 😅 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXxDeMVGmh8
If It Makes You Happy

@sophie
I need you to understand that I don't know what popular things are because everyone has to know how uniquely cultured I am. What's the point of only watching and listening to obscure media if nobody knows how cool it makes me?
@sophie This was a treat. The journey is its own reward but the final screen, ah… good times!
@sophie OMG thank you for sharing this. It even does the annoying thing where the click wheel goes back a step when you release it sometimes
@sophie hate to tell you, but as a Gen Z kid with an iPod I could do it /lh
@arcade
Also, iirc, iPods actually sort bands starting with "the" by the letter of the second word, they don't just all hang out in the "t" group.
@sophie
@sophie got stuck at the boomerang thing. I quit instagram before stories were a thing and I have no clue what a boomerang is
@sophie clickwheels are still so satisfying!
@sophie I was good til I got to the phone 🤣
@sophie
OK, I sucked every time. Spoiler I'm aging onward... :(

@sophie Of course Gen X can do all* these things too, but no one talks about us...

* Ok the Michael Cera was pure trial and error. I thought he was a wrestler but it turns out that was John Cena.

@sophie The iPod thing is so well made! 😂😂😂😂😂 (Laughing emojis to prove my millennial credentials)
@sophie okay, but why does it require me to care what skibidi toilet is
@sophie much nostalgia for the 3310 and the iPod wheel
@sophie
I lost interest in generational politics when Abbie Hoffman looked me in the eye and said, "Never trust anyone over thirty." I was eighteen. He was thirty two.

@sophie I have successfully infiltrated my way onto the site by going through the millennial captcha - I can now corrupt it with my gen Z brain rot.

Skibidti rizz fr fr gyatt

@spud @sophie isn't skibidi toilet more of a gen alpha thing?

And the rest of that isn't gen Z stuff it's just culturally appropriated AAVE

@hazelnot @sophie

Not sure - frankly the whole generation thing is kinda silly, and I don't feel like I fit cleanly into my prescribed cohort

So I don't take it too seriously

@spud @sophie oh yeah generations are bullshit lol

I'm early gen Z but I have a lot more in common with late millennials than with late zoomers cause I mean, the late millennials are like 2 years older than me and the last of the late zoomers were born when I was in in high school lmao

@hazelnot @sophie sounds like we're in a similar boat
@sophie Not sure what bubble this was written in. Seems to have a huge chunk of it devoted to a musician I've never even heard of.
@sophie I am old and failed. Guess it works.
@sophie I succeeded, despite being part of Gen Z (being toward the oldest part of it probably influences this). I guessed on the Michael Cera part and just did the ones that I thought would look like him. Had to redo the phone texting one though as I messed up and there was no backspace button as far as I could tell (only used a feature phone in 2012 and 2013).
@sophie I got stuck at many questions 😅 Really love the concept
@sophie for the love of Scott Pilgrim people!
@sophie i didnt realise michael was in one of the pics so i was confused af til i saw the edge of his face 😭
@sophie I feel like the candy bar phone challenge should include having to send the message. Otherwise 💯
