If you want some truly advanced wishing, you could try hoping that #RailroadTycoon 4 will eventually come out.
Sure - there's Railroads! and other train games, but nothing on the PC game has captured that business challenge instead of infrastructure challenge like Railroad Tycoon 3 did.
With friends, you might get to play Age of Steam or an 18XX game, but Railroad Tycoon 4 (or even working multiplayer Railroad Tycoon 3, I suspect) remains beyond our reach
