I want to talk about this ridiculous CBC story whining about a small increase in the taxable amount of capital gains in the budget.
CBC has this little video which seems like a huge amount of extra tax - $4,461!

ANALYSIS | Do wealthy Canadians pay enough taxes? That depends how we define 'fair share' | CBC News

The federal government announced an increase in capital gains taxes as a way to ensure the wealthiest Canadian pay their fair share. But how exactly do we determine what a "fair share" is? Especially if, as some data suggests, the wealthiest are already paying a larger share of the overall income tax burden.

CBC

If you watch the video, the extra tax calculated is for someone making $400,000 a year. Do you make $400,00 a year? NO! Because less than 1% of Canadians do (and they are certainly not reading my Mastodon).
Look at these numbers from StatsCan. Making $400k would put you WELL into the 1%

@monicarooney

Most Canadians will never see 250K IN CAPITAL GAINS in their lifetime.
Only the Conservatives could spin an 'attack' on the very, very rich, as an 'attack' on everyone.
