TIL, Netflix has hello world in production
https://www.netflix.com/helloworld 🤔
@nixCraft I love how cheery it is, it's not just 'hello world', it's 'Hello World!!'
@nixCraft im sure someone at some point will remove this. And then nothing will work anymore.

@nixCraft

Engineer 1: Look! Look! My custom server is working.

Engineer 2: Nice work. Well done. Now that it's working, you should take it down since it's public facing.

Engineer 1: I'm off to see Iron Man 2. I'll take it down when I get back to the office on Monday.

@nixCraft It even serves cookies!!
@nixCraft
Hello World only valid with data governance cookie selection.

@nixCraft
Every site should have it... like it's the Cosmic Microwave Background of the internet.

@nixCraft given how Netflix does special things to keep the service running even when servers fail I guess this is a "this backend server is up" canary
@nixCraft probably just the bare bones health check page
@nixCraft likely a good page for health checks.
@nixCraft Interesting that it loads over 200K of Javascript and takes almost a second on my machine to render.
