Introducing another #OpenStreetMap based alternative to #HappyCow in order to find #vegan (and #vegetarian) restaurants on mobile devices via #OSMand.

Available via #fDroid and the stores listed on their homepage: https://osmand.net/

The screenshots show German dialogues, but I provide an English description in the alt texts.

In the last steps we define and apply a filter. We do have two optional steps which are indicated in blue and allow to obtain only restaurants that are currently open and may save the filter settings.

You can fix mistakes and add missing restaurants using your OSM account as mentioned in a previous toot about #VeggieKarte (https://chaos.social/@Cs137/112225080066686739).

Enjoy!

Are you aware of #VeggieKarte? 🌱 🗺️ It is an #OpenStreetMap based service to find #vegan (and #vegetarian) restaurants, in other words an open alternative to #HappyCow (except for the review functionality). 🔗 https://veggiekarte.de/ You can contribute by maintaining entries via your #OSM account and the source code is deposited on #codeberg.

I realised that I never told you how to apply the filter, in case you saved it (step 7). So here you go!

For the sake of completeness, this blog post summarises the content of this thread:

OsmAnd Vegan Restaurants Filter :: Cs137's Digital Space

This post describes how to find vegan restaurants on mobile devices via OsmAnd, which uses OpenStreetMap (OSM) data, and was first shared in this Mostodon tread. Conequently, there is no need to rely on commercial services that track your data, spam you with adds or restrict access to features behind paywalls to achieve this. Essentially, this guide is a list of steps to follow, illustrated with German screenshots. However, these screenshots are just for reference, and you don’t need to understand German to follow the steps.

@Cs137 thank you for the explanation!
@Cs137 Yes, thank you!!! I had no idea this is an option now :)
