Sitting Senator publicly incites others to engage in politicized murder of civilians.

Senator Tom Cotton has a zest for the murder of U.S. citizens—see his op-ed calling for summary execution of protesters against police brutality—and he is a leader within our nation's fascist party, so this should perhaps not be such a surprise, but it should always be a shock.

@JuliusGoat That would be a felony in many democratic countries around the world. But I guess the "freedom of speech should have limitations" is the beginning of a slippery slope. (/s)

@Illuminatus @JuliusGoat
there IS a limit to 'Free Speech', and inciting riot is outside the legal limit, as is falsely defaming someone

<edit w thanks to the guy who taught me something important >

@PeachMcD

This is misunderstood and incorrect. One can shout fire in a crowded theatre, it is not illegal. It can violate state or local laws under false report of an emergency. It could lead to charges if someone is trampled or injured but it’s not illegal

@damon @PeachMcD
This metaphor about yelling Fire in a crowded theater was used in a failed argument that said you can't protest a war once the government decides to go in.

This idea needed to die a century ago

@damon @PeachMcD
Inciting violence is not protected speech, to be clear, but that specific argument has a bad history.
