Friend: What do you play games on?
Me: I play games on a switch!

#meme #shitpost #networking #tech #infosec

@3kh0 haha, now run doom on it
@3kh0 Amazing! Next thing you know DOOM will be ported to it!

@3kh0

This is the cutest thing I saw in the whole year!

@3kh0 Reminds me of Turris Omnia Tetris :D https://youtu.be/NCHUaDiU5Jg

@3kh0 “…it’s a managed switch.”

Oh, how do you manage it?

D-pad, mostly…

@3kh0
Snakes on a switch!
😁
@3kh0 but can you run Doom on it? :)
@brotbuexe Probs can :D
@3kh0 @brotbuexe At this resolution, I think HUD info will need to be represented as binary, but I'm sure it can.
@3kh0 @brotbuexe if you stack a few more of them you'd have enough pixels

@3kh0

Enemy: What do you play games on?
Me: YOUR SOUL

@3kh0 The only Switch I support!

@3kh0 Oh, god! We thrashed out a 10/100Mbps switch last week. I never imagined we coud use it to do creative things.

(Well, I hope the guy that made the GIF live in a country with cheap electric power).

@3kh0 RGB LEDs add 5 HP to the snek game, fer shur. 🙃
@[email protected] and I thought changing wafrn dev code for a shitpost was a high effort thing to do

@3kh0 well that's pretty freaking dope.

Big up's.

Brother

@3kh0 You mean a nintendo switch, right? ... RIGHT??
@Meowie_Gamer I only said switch :) never specified what switch
@3kh0 How did you even get that to work...
@3kh0
Snake... Its a snakes...
@3kh0 You'd need a shit load on those to have enough "pixels" for Colums, Tetris or Space Invaders 😅
@devnull Wanna donate to the "Let me buy some more network switches so I can play tetris with the lights" fund?

@3kh0 "oh cool you have a switch! Do you play Zelda TotK?"

"hell no!"

@3kh0 What brand of switches are these?
@argonaut It is the Ubiquiti Pro Max 48 PoE
@argonaut @3kh0 these look like Ubiquiti UniFi Pro Max switches: https://ui.com/eu/en/switching/professional-max
UniFi Professional Max Switching - Ubiquiti

High-performance switching with 2.5 GbE, PoE++ output, and Etherlighting™ to make cable management a dream. Ideal for 6 GHz capable WiFi access points.

@3kh0 cool! could you get intermediate shades of purple by pwm'ing the LEDs?
@3kh0 I couldn't appreciate how amazing this is because I was too distracted by the fact that you're playing with a stick instead of a D-pad. If I was trying to convince someone that sticks are not always better, Snake is the reductio ad absurdum that I would've reached for.
@3kh0 That's the funniest thing I've seen in days.
@3kh0 addressable LEDs make everything better
@th @3kh0 my brain has never seen something so joyous
@th when your network starts crashing you have a disco party in the server room
@3kh0
Ok now I need to know if this is just custom firware which switches the LEDs or if there is some hardware emulation going on to create a link state on the ports, which would be even more incredible
