Usually not fatal by itself nowadays because if you scramble brains you risk spreading mad cow to people. Stuns before you bleed the animal out.

Used to do it with a poleaxe or a mallet. It's considered better than slicing the animals carotid/aortic arch and hanging them upside down before stunning.

I think neutral gas asphyxiation would be. Unfortunately they usually use carbon dioxide instead for pigs. I consider carbon dioxide to be much worse. It's both acidic and makes you very aware you're suffocating. At high concentrations unconsciousness is generally very quick though because your blood will literally dump stored oxygen whenever it encounters high levels of CO2. Makes lungs work in reverse like you were in space.

That's pretty much it. Your hemoglobin decouples oxygen for CO2 in areas of high CO2 concentration. This is good when you're circulating oxygen to muscles that need it. It's bad when you're dumping all your oxygen reserve to the atmosphere and instead making your blood more acidic.

Absolutely nothing peaceful about it. Pigs in UK are killed with CO2 and it’a harrowing. The only advantage is that slaughterhouse workers don’t need to look their victims in the eyes while it happens. The pigs get lowered into a gaschamber where it happens. They shit themselves and scream their lungs out while fighting for up to 3 minutes of their miserable lives. You can find a pretty recent documentation about it called Pignorant by vegan activists who infiltrated those facilities. They’ve also demonstrated in front of the HQs of those companies (e.g. Pilgrims) by playing back the audio from the gas chambers.

I’m not into that topic. According to a quick search the exhaust fumes method is working because of Carbon Monoxide (CO) and not Carbon Dioxide (CO2). Wasn’t there a redditor who did not recognize he was killing himself with CO and other redditors saved his life?
I’ve also found a pretty repulsive study done on piglets about the ideal gas for euthanization. It found a 2-step procedure with N2O (Nitrous Oxide) + O2 (Oxygen) as an anesthetic for 12 min followed by killing via CO2 was the most stress-free method.
The activists are protesting against the CO2 method in the UK currently. And I hope the management of the respective companies get public hell for it. I don’t know if it’s used in other countries too.

It really is a great movie. Super intense and all the characters are fascinating.
If you like good character pictures that are just about events in a larger setting, like some westerns, it’s a great movie. If you’re looking for something with a compelling story and satisfying conclusion … maybe skip.

More that it’s such a strange one that normal people are too confused by the situation, or frightened by him, to just run away, so they stand there like cattle and get slaughtered.
