My tribute to my lost boys... - Lemmy.World

16 years ago, these two were born. Two months ago, they had both gone. To celebrate their lives, the joy and love they brought me, I want to share this collection of what they were like when they were together.

They seem so popular, dozens of games coming out, and reviews often positive. But When I see “Roguelike” I imagine a game that’s too small to be a real game, so they made it so you can never win and just have to keep trying and you’ll get a decent number of hours out of it. With just enough progression each time that you start to believe it’s possible you’ll get somewhere meaningful. When I see “Souls-like” I think of a game where the difficulty is only there to give people with too much time on their hands a sense of superiority. I have roughly a thousand games in my various libraries and I have never played a game in either of these genres. I feel fine being so unreasonable about this.

How often do you fluff your pillows? - Lemmy.World

As a moderately broad shouldered guy who prefers side sleeping, I need robust pillow support. I find that no pillow I buy, at any price, will last more than six months before its going flat every night. Am I upset about about something that’s perfectly normal here? Like the “normal amount of toilet roll,” I feel like this is one of those things that we never know what is normal for others.

Need a launcher. Specific needs! - Lemmy.World

Hi everyone, especially those of you who have tried launchers I’ve never tried… Like a lot of people I dropped Nova a while back, following the beginning of the inevitable decline, which seems to be continuing as expected. I’m back on a stock launcher for now, and it’s been fine but it lacks things… I miss the good days of Nova and being able to tweak everything! The problem I’ve had with launchers I’ve tried is that they either don’t offer folders for the app draw, or if they do they don’t work right. For example, lawn-chair would have an icon in and an icon out of the folder every time an app updated. 🤔 Also, I have a work profile on my device, courtesy of Shelter. Launchers seem to struggle with this, muddling up apps or missing them entirely sometimes. Can anyone suggest a launcher which can handle folders well, and a work profile without issues? Thanks! T

DLC is sometimes Downright Ludicrous Commercialism - Lemmy.World

Finally got around to playing Stellaris. It’s an older game but I work my way through my Steam unplayed list slowly at my age. Great game, so much to learn, so complex yet elegant. Really enjoyed it, got 40 hours gameplay for my first time out over the last few weeks. I noted some tech unlocked items I didn’t have access to, options that were referenced but never appeared. Did some digging and discovered that almost every system in the game, from research and military through diplomacy and government, has a DLC which contains the full range of options. Bit annoying when they’re effectively selling me what is really a patch for the game. Then to add to that, for a ten year old game the DLC is still full price. There’s some places selling it at a discount but mostly mostly its mad pricing. The full edition is £180! If this was happening with a product more serious than a game, I’d be more than mildly infuriated. How has Skyrim managed to include all the DLC in the last three editions and these people are still trying to milk every drop from a ten year old game just because it had a decent release? Bonkers.
